Job
Description
We are looking for talented and creative people to join us on our mission to bring the benefits of tabletop roleplaying games to young players. Story Tables has been running rpg programs for children ages 8-18 at schools, game stores, and online for over eight years. We are now seeking to add new Story Guides (Game Masters) to our team in order to bring these roleplaying games to a wider audience. Ideal candidates will have deep experience with running tabletop roleplaying games and a resume that includes work with children.
As a Story Guide, you are tasked with designing and facilitating age-appropriate adventures for up to 8 players. All games are run in our own proprietary roleplaying-game system, “Isles of Mist,” in a magical fantasy world appropriate for young players. This fictional setting is a persistent world, with history shaped by each generation of players, and you will be responsible for creating a unique story for each campaign which fits into the existing lore of the world. A Story Guide is part actor, part storyteller, and part teacher; it is your responsibility to hold a safe space and provide an engaging experience of collaborative storytelling and gaming for these children. We are always available to provide support with story development or table challenges as needed.
Our typical schedule in the school year is 2 hours per week, typically after school or on weekends, with programs lasting 10-15 weeks. One hour of paid prep time is allotted per 2 hour session. A Story Guide may run one program or several concurrent ones. In the summer, we run full-week programs, and we also occasionally run birthday parties or holiday events. Which groups you accept depends on your schedule and availability.
